Our Facilities

Level 1

Built on a slope, the first level of the mosque is the carpark that can accommodate some 44 vehicles.

During major events, where a large number of congregants and guests are expected, the carpark is converted to an open space for capacity, and can fit an additional 800 guests.

Also on this level, the multi-purpose hall, which is able to accommodate some 80 guests, is perfect for small wedding receptions as well as courses and events.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME

Our facilities and structure cater to everyone, including for the physically challenged.

Our staircases as well as the buttons in the lift are indicated with Braille, slopes are provided to ease mobility of the wheelchair-bound, and parents with strollers.

Rooms that have the hearing logo will help those with hearing aid listen with clarity. Often, those with hearing impairments will hear sermon or syarahan from main speakers available at the mosque. The frequency of the speakers may not be entirely tuned to their hearing aid, so sometimes what they hear are muffled or distorted. Alhamdulilah, Masjid Yusof Ishak is hearing-aid friendly.

Our Facilities

Level 2

Main prayer hall

Exclusively for our male congregants, you will see the exquisitely carved mimbar in the centre of the hall. The mimbar, made of teak, is the pride of the mosque. With carvings of 4 species of orchids, the mimbar stands majestic in the hall.

The late President Yusof Ishak, and the former first lady, Puan Noor Aishah loved flowers. We had the pleasure and honour of being given plants from their own garden that are planted around the mosque!

If you are a fan of orchids, drop by our Orchid Sanctuary at the back of the hall. With at least 10 different types of orchids, our volunteer gardeners help to maintain the garden, making sure the orchids bloom flourishly. If you are visiting at the right season, see the dainty but lovely Dendrobium Noor Aishah, in its resplendent yellow, befitting of the former First Lady of Singapore.

You would also not miss the royal purple Dendrobium Masjid Yusof Ishak. Dedicated to the mosque by local orchid doyen, Mr Syed Yusof Alsagoff, this orchid species is truly one of a kind.

While still at the Orchid Sanctuary, look up and you will see the khat calligraphy of the Quranic verse of Al-Hujuraat (49:13) which is significant in its emphasis of how people should come together as a community.

‘O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female, and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.”

themselves to freshly-laundered prayer veils, hot water and baby changing room facilities.
